One holds up a sign that reads "Ready to Ride" Pittsburgh Transit Riders Celebrate Port Authority’s NEXTransit Long-Range Plan. Transit Riders' Voices Were Heard! Transit Riders in Allegheny County celebrated as last Friday the Port Authority Board of Directors voted to adopt its NEXTransit 25-year long-range plan. The plan directly incorporated riders’ feedback around increasing fare affordability and creating dedicated transit corridors to the Mon Valley & Eastern Suburbs. This is a win for transit riders who have long been making these demands. Mayor Peduto is stepping down, and with candidates now vying to step up at Pittsburgh's new Mayor, we have the opportunity to push our City's largest employers to finally pay their fair share. Join Pittsburgh United to release a new series of recommendations for PGH's next mayor. (We think that UPMC paying for transit for all their employees would be a good start.)
