The images of U.S. Border Patrol officers in Texas on horseback abusing Haitian refugees with whips to stop them from seeking asylum in the U.S. are horrifying and indefensible.

The Haitians seeking asylum at the U.S. - Mexico border are fleeing dire conditions in their home country where a 7.2. earthquake struck just last month, leaving many without homes and in unsafe conditions. Additionally, the country is facing violence and political instability, as well as a shortage of vaccines and healthcare amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It is simply unsafe for them to live there.

Seeking asylum is completely legal and a human right.

We must do everything we can to ensure Haitians are given due process and the opportunity to be safe.

Contact your representatives and senators at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to do what they can to stop the deportation flights to Haiti and create a more just and humane immigration system.
