We received a lot of feedback and questions to my email yesterday, so I want to take this time to address them.
I never said we should completely open our borders and bring in all of Haiti here to America. What I said is the Haitian people are not a bad group that we should fear, they are a population that has endured a lot and deserves some help. How do we do that?
We do exactly what President Biden is doing. He is at the UN today speaking with world leaders and telling them the US is going to do its part, but everyone else must pick up the slack as well. These are global problems that need global solutions.
The two questions that I admit frustrate me the most are when people ask, "How will we take care of Americans first?" and "Will they take our jobs?"
Folks, America is a massive country, and we also happen to have a massive labor shortage right now. We need labor! These people are willing to work hard and pay their fair share in taxes. Something that many Americans in the top .001% don't seem to want to do.
We are at a crossroads right now in this country. We can follow the President and his common-sense immigration strategy of vetting everyone and upholding the Constitution by providing all asylum seekers with their day in court, or we can go back to the hate-filled policies of Trump and Stephen Miller.
I know what future I want for my children.
