Register TODAY for the 2021 Convention!
This Saturday 3-6pm

Register for the annual Atlanta DSA 2021 convention right now at atldsa.org/gm

A few FAQs:

📨  How do I register over email?

Once you register, you'll receive an email with the Zoom information. (Check your spam folder for that email if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes to your regular inbox!)

💻  Will this convention be an in-person/virtual hybrid event?

No. Due to the continued spread of the Delta variant, we've decided to run the convention 100% virtually over Zoom.

📖  What are the rules for the convention?

You can read all of the rules for the convention at atldsa.org/con-rules (Don't worry, it's less than a page long!)

🗳  Will there be any other General Meeting activities outside of Steering Committee elections?

We will have standard committee reports as well as two resolutions to vote on as well, Resolution 21-11: Establishing the Rose Ensemble and Resolution 21-12: Preemptive Action on Georgia Abortion Law. (Check the agenda for full details at atldsa.org/agenda)

📬  How will voting take place at the convention?

Voting opens AFTER the convention ends, at 6pm on Saturday, and will remain open until midnight. Ballots will be sent via email to members in good standing who registered for the convention.

Nominations for Steering Committee close
on Wednesday at midnight

Final calls for nominations to Steering Committee, both at-large and named officer positions, are due Wednesday at midnight.

(Please note that members in good standing may attend the Convention and nominate themselves from the floor until the beginning of Steering Committee Candidate Statements. Nominees should declare their intention to run to a member of the Nominations Committee as soon as possible, prior to floor nominations. Read the full convention rules at atldsa.org/con-rules)

Hear from the candidates on Friday evening

A candidate forum will be held on Friday from 6 to 8pm. We suggest you log on at 5:45 so we can spend as much time with the candidates as possible. If you'd like to hear from the candidates but can't attend Friday's Zoom event, be sure to still register! We will send a recording of the event to all registrants so you can catch up later.

What to expect from Thursday's newsletter

We will pause this week's version of Red Clay Comrade in order to send out a final bulletin on our steering committee candidates. Keep an eye on your inbox Thursday for a list of candidates, their statements, and an appendix with the candidates' answers to questions regarding their vision for the chapter.

(Please note these questions are distinct from those planned for Friday's candidate forum, so be sure to read through the bulletin in order to do all the research you'd like to do before Saturday's election.)

Final reminder for this Tuesday (tomorrow):
What role does capitalism play in imperialism?

Think Like a Socialist: Capitalism, Colonialism, Fascism. Join Atlanta DSA's education committee for our second virtual workshop on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30pm. We'll continue our discussion of the progression of the modes of production and the role that capitalism plays in colonialism and imperialism.
