John,
I want to address the news that is going around about the days immediately following the Jan 6th insurrection. Some time has passed, and many people are quick to forget, but the days following the horrific day were deeply troubling as we as a nation did not know who was in charge.
The President is the only one who holds the nuclear football, and at that time, it was in the hands of someone that had lost everything and was increasingly becoming more and more desperate and volatile. I remember calling everyone in hopes of some reassurance from someone in the chain of command that we had this situation under control.
Mike Pence and the rest of the cabinet were too cowardly to step up to invoke the 25th which is what should have happened. General Milley saw what was unfolding and had the wherewithal to step up for his country and put his career and his freedom on the line to save us all, and by all, I mean the world.
Technically, what General Milley did was illegal, he did not have the authority under the constitution to surpass the orders from POTUS. But thanks to Trump, we now have to reexamine the Constitution and put in these protections.
This brings us to today. Folks, Trump is rumbling, and he is picking up steam across the country. He can do this because in rural America there is no Democratic presence to stop him, except for one group, No Dem Left Behind. We are going into areas no one else is, supporting candidates no one else is, and doing the work that must be done to save our country from Trump 2.0.
