Earlier this year, our nation witnessed a dangerous attempt of voter disenfranchisement when former president Trump openly tried to overturn the 2020 results of the Electoral College.

Since then, Republicans in state legislatures across the country have begun squeezing people out of participation in our democracy, passing draconian laws aimed at limiting ballot access, reducing voting hours, and restricting mail-in voting.

It’s time for this all to stop. Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in introducing the Freedom to Vote Act -- legislation that will ensure eligible voters in all states get access to the ballot.

The Freedom to Vote Act includes commonsense measures like automatic and online voter registration, uniform early voting, a public holiday for Election Day, and improving vote by mail access. It also works to promote election integrity and prevent interference and partisan subversion.

This is a critical piece of legislation and we must work together to get it passed. So I’m asking you to add your name as a sign of strong grassroots and constituent support for our new legislation: The Freedom to Vote Act.
