REPUBLICAN PARTY OF NAVARRO COUNTY NEWSLETTER

SEPTEMBER 2021

The Republican Party of Navarro County is the party of small business and the working class. Work is a privilege to better one’s quality of life. I hope you enjoyed the Labor Day weekend.

Elections are won at the precinct level. Precinct Chairs can file for office beginning Tuesday September 14 thru Monday December 13 by completing the “Application for ____ Chair on the ____ Party General Primary Ballot” form 2-1 rev 9/2017, which is available on the Texas Secretary of State website www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms. Enter the words “Precinct” and “Republican” in the title blanks. Indicate the Precinct Number as the office being sought. It must be notarized and returned to me during the aforementioned three-month filing period. You can download an application by clicking the button below.

You may ask, what is a Precinct Chair? Or who is my Precinct Chair? Or what are the qualifications? Precinct Chair responsibilities are:

· Elected for a 2-year term. Must be a registered voter & resident of the precinct.

· Identify, register, inform, and turn-out voters. Recruit volunteers.

· Place yard signs within your precinct.

· Maximize the Republican vote in your precinct.

· Participate in the County Executive Committee meetings.

· Conduct your Precinct Convention as the temporary chair. Ensure all Precinct Convention documentation is completed and returned to the County Chair. The Republican Party of Navarro County www.navgop.org website “My GOP” tab shows the current Precinct Chair list. There are vacancies in Precincts 101, 105, 106, 107, 108, 201, 202, 204. 300, 301, 304, 305, 306, 403, and 405.

Candidates filing for public office will begin Saturday November 13 thru Monday December 13. During the past week, Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Connie Warren Hickman announced she will not seek another term in office in the 2022 election. We thank Judge Hickman for her 40 years of service to the citizens of Navarro County.

The Navarro County Republican Women (NCRW) will have their 11:30am lunch meeting on Tuesday September 28. Our own Chuck Raines will be speaking on the dangers of Critical Race Theory (CRT).

If there is interest in forming a Young Republicans Club (young meaning age 40 and below – which leaves me out), please contact me so I can get you in touch with some resources.

The Navarro County Elections Office has informed me that September 28 is National Voter Registration Day. They desire for Republicans and Democrats to work together to register voters that day, but I am embarrassed that the Democrats have about 10-12 Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDRs) and Republicans have about 2-3 VDRs (one being myself). The deadline for voter registration for the November 2 State Constitutional Amendment Election is Monday October 4. I have received a new movers list.

We will be hosting a booth again at the Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival on Saturday October 16 to register voters for the 2022 Primary Election, which should be our focus. I will need help transporting our RPNC tent and Trump signs, since I do not have a pick-up truck, along with help for set-up. We need volunteers to work two-hour shifts:

· 09:00 am to 11:00 am

· 11:00 am to 01:00 pm

· 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm

· 03:00 pm to 05:00 pm

Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDR) should bring their folders and forms If you desire to be a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, contact the Navarro County Elections Office at (903) 875-3330 to attend their VDR class on Friday mornings at 10:00am or set-up for an appointment.

It takes people to hold free elections, which is foundational in our democracy. During the past several months, I have appointed additional Republican Election Judges and Election Clerks to fill vacancies in our Navarro County Vote Centers. Unfortunately, we experienced some cancellations for various reasons during the past week. We have vacancies at the MLK Center, Navarro College Cook Center, Westside Baptist Church, Silver City VFD, and Pursley VFD. We do not want to relinquish our Presiding role of these Vote Centers, due to the Republican majority vote. The other party will have their Election Judges and Election Clerks in place. Republicans must be adequately

represented and follow the Election Code. Poll workers are paid $ 11.00 / hour. If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, please contact me or Bill Carson.

Please save the date for our “Don’t Mess With Texas” fundraiser dinner on Friday evening October 22 at the Corsicana Opry & Event Center. Special guest speakers will be Republican Party of Texas Chair Matt Rinaldi and former RPT Chair and current Candidate for Governor Lt. Col. (ret.) Allen B. West. Doors open at 6:00 pm.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. They can be purchased through our website www.navgop.org by pressing the Donate tab. An alternate method is to make checks payable to Republican Party of Navarro County and mail to P.O. Box 1272, Corsicana, Texas 75151.

The proceeds will be for local party operations and will stay in Navarro County.

Our operations account pays for our Republican Headquarters building lease, maintenance, utilities, and insurance. We have four contribution levels:

$ 100 Roosevelt Sponsor ([link removed]) – Member pin, Annual Display Board

$ 500 Eisenhower Sponsor ([link removed]) – Medium member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition.

$ 1000 Lincoln Sponsor ([link removed]) – Large member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition, Special seating at events.

$ 5000 Reagan Sponsor ([link removed]) – Large member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition and VIP Table / Seating at events.

Please keep the Republican Party of Navarro County strong throughout the year, going into 2022. The Republican Headquarters is a valuable resource for the local party, as well as the Navarro County Republican Women’s club. “Bring America Back” in 2022.

Steve Jessup, RPNC County Chair
