As the House Democratic majority works to achieve President Biden’s goal to build back better, I keep coming back to a common theme in our efforts: child care.
The pandemic has exposed cracks in every aspect of our society and social safety net, but few are more glaring than our failure to provide affordable, accessible child care for all who need it.
For Rhode Island families, child care can cost more than rent or in-state college tuition — and that’s simply unacceptable. A lack of affordable child care disproportionately affects women, who have been forced out of the workforce as the pandemic continues to plague our communities and limit options for care.
That’s why my Democratic colleagues and I fought hard for the $3.5 trillion budget that passed last month. We need to invest in children and families if we’re going to truly build back better.
If you agree that we must prioritize affordable child care and access to Pre-K for all children, will you make a contribution to show your support for our efforts in Congress? [[link removed]]

This is not only an investment in America’s children and families, it will promote economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and serve as an investment in our future.
