Team,

About one week after signing the most restrictive anti-choice law in the country, Texas Governor Greg Abbott just signed an extreme voter suppression bill into law that bans 24-hour early voting and drive-thru voting, adds new restrictions to mail-in ballots, and allows partisan poll-watchers to intimidate voters at the polls.

This law is part of a GOP-led attack on voting rights across the country, and it isn’t new. In fact, Governor Kim Reynolds already signed a law making it harder for Iowans to vote last March.

The Iowa law, which I voted against in the state legislature, shortens the early voting period and closes polling places an hour earlier.

After seeing historic voter turnout in 2020, Gov. Reynolds and other extremists in her party would rather suppress the vote in order to win than make it easier for Iowans and Americans everywhere to make their voices heard in our democratic process.

It’s not right, and it’s just one of many reasons why we need a new governor here in Iowa. I promise to make it easier — not harder — to vote across our state.

If you’re with me and want to see voting rights strengthened instead of suppressed, make a grassroots contribution of $10 or more to support my campaign for governor today.

It’s time our government starts working for the people. Let’s fix this broken system together, and make it easier for every Iowan to exercise their right to vote.
