Unfortunately, women of color who run for office often face extra barriers while campaigning. Most critically, they receive on average significantly less donor funds [[link removed]], in spite of comparable fundraising efforts and exceptional qualifications.

The additional barriers mean that women of color are vastly underrepresented in elected office. Currently, women of color constitute just eight percent [[link removed]] of state legislators and less than six percent [[link removed]] of state elective executives nationwide.

That's why Lillian's List Foundation [[link removed]] is proud to host the inaugural Elect Women of Color Training Institute [[link removed]], via Zoom on September 25, 28, and 29.

Elect WOC [[link removed]] is a training for women of color interested in running for office in the near future. Participants will gain critical insight into the basics of campaigning, and attend virtual sessions on how to build their personal narrative, talk about reproductive rights, and raise money. Attendees will also hear from a panel of elected women of color from across the state.
