BREAKING: Hurricane Ida death toll rises to 4, and one million people are still without power!
Hundreds of thousands are without electricity and tap water. People are clearing rotting food from refrigerators. Neighbours are sharing generators and using buckets of swimming pool water to bathe or to flush toilets. Long lines are forming at the few gas stations that have fuel and generator power to pump it.
This is happening in 21st century America!
The damage left behind by Hurricane Ida isn’t quantifiable and things will continue to get worse. Earlier this year the United Nations released a climate report warning of the frequency of such storms in the coming years.

DONATE [[link removed]]The 3,000-plus-page report from 234 scientists said global warming is already accelerating as sea levels continue to rise, and we see worsening extremes such as heat waves, droughts, floods and storms. Tropical cyclones are getting stronger and wetter, while Arctic sea ice is dwindling in the summer as permafrost is thawing, the report says.
It also makes it unquestionable that human influence has contributed to climate change and the warming of the planet.
The time to act is now!
For years, we’ve been waiting on the GQP to muster the political will and leadership needed to fight back against special interest groups and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. But so far, there have been no results. We simply cannot afford to put our future and the future of our children in the hands of a party that to this day, refuses to accept scientific fact and is dedicated to spreading misinformation--be it on the global pandemic or climate change.
The United States needs to act as the leader of the free world in environmental conservation efforts, clean up tasks and bold legislative stances to help curb the impacts of climate change.
