  • Pickens County Courthouse: "Pickens County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Jasper, Georgia, the county seat of Pickens County, Georgia. It was designed by Bothwell & Nash and built in 1949. The exterior includes marble from Tate, Georgia." Address: 50 N Main St, Jasper, GA 30143

  • Oglethorpe Monument: "This 38-foot monument was designed and dedicated in 1930 by Colonel Sam Tate of Georgia Marble Company, as a tribute to General James Edward Oglethorpe, founder of the colony of Georgia." Address: Main Street, Jasper, GA 30143 

  • Old Pickens County Jail: "The old marble front jail constructed in 1909 and served the county until 1982. This is a unique structure with living quarters on the first floor for the jailer and his family with the cell blocks occupying the second story." Address: 141 N. Main St, Jasper GA 30143

  • Tate House Historical Mansion: "The Tate House is listed as the Pink Palace in the National Register of Historic Places, making it the perfect destination for your Georgia historic home wedding. Built as a private estate home by Colonel Sam Tate, land baron, philanthropist and business tycoon in 1926, it is now known and loved as an Atlanta Area Wedding Venue. Things to do in Pickens County


  • Marble Museum: "The museum includes a year-round exhibit that includes “examples of fine marble and shows the history of marble mining in Pickens County." Address: 1985 Kennesaw Ave, Nelson, GA 30151 (Located in the back of Nelson City, Hall)

  • Heritage Days Festival: "Heritage Days Festival is held the third full weekend in October and is the highlight of the year in Talking Rock. Vendors from around the state join with shop owners for a 2-day festival, that includes food, fun and music." Date: October 16-17, 2021 | Address: 4675 Highway 136 West, Talking Rock, GA 30175

  • Eagle's Rest Hiking Trail: "This trail is relatively level with minor elevation changes. Oglethorpe Mt. trail circles the top of the mountain in a clockwise direction, returning back to the parking area. The trail is ½ mile. Follow the white blazes." Address: 7315 Monument Rd, Jasper, GA 30143 | Follow Rt. 136 to Burnt Mt. and turn south on Monument Road. Follow Monument Road to the very end (about 5 miles) and enter the Eagle’s Rest site. Drive up the hill to the parking area with the kiosk on the left. The trails start behind the kiosk.

  • Burnt Mountain Preserve: "The Burnt Mountain Preserve Trail was developed and built by the Mountain Stewards in 2006 under a Grant funded by the Pickens County Community Resource Association." Address: 2686-2964 GA-136, Jasper, GA 30143
