BREAKING: Yesterday evening, the U.S. Supreme court refused to block a Texas reproductive justice law that bans abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy. This is the most restrictive abortion law in the nation.
To nobody’s surprise, the vote was 5-to-4, with three Trump-appointed justices joining two other conservatives in favor of the harsh abortion restrictions. The far-right has been working to overturn Roe v. Wade for decades — and this ruling for Texas makes these extremists dangerously close to succeeding in other states as well.
This is a severe assault on reproductive freedom, and it further perpetuates socioeconomic inequalities in our society -- the very thing that we at BTE work to dismantle. Our allies over at TEA (Texas Equal Access) Fund put it perfectly in their Instagram post below:
TEA Fund was created to fund abortions for women facing financial barriers to abortion access.
As three progressive young women, our mission in building Barrier To Entry PAC has always been to deconstruct the hurdles that systemically keep the working class down— and that includes the severe barriers to abortion access.
We are disgusted with yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling -- but now, we’re more fired up than ever to elect leaders who will defend reproductive justice and protect women’s fundamental right to choose what they do with their bodies.
Today, we’re calling on our BTE supporters to immediately rush a contribution of any size directly to our friends over at TEA Fund. Your gift will empower Texas Equal Access Fund in its mission to fight back against these grievous attacks on reproductive rights. PLEASE CHIP IN NOW >>
