** Surrey Heath News
------------------------------------------------------------

HGV Chobham update: Further to my recent update, which you can read here ([link removed]) , there have continued to be some problems surrounding enforcement. Carole Mancini and I have, therefore, written again to Cllr Matt Furniss, Cabinet Member for Transport & Infrastructure at Surrey County Council, to ask if he can offer any additional assistance with resolving these ongoing enforcement issues. I will be sure to include his response and any more updates in future newsletters.

Surrey Heath Age Concern's Walk on the Wild Side: SHAC is a brilliant local charity which brings so much joy to older people in my constituency. I am delighted to learn that the great people at SHAC are organising a sponsored five mile walk – A Walk On The Wildside – on 26th September, and I have no doubt the event will be a great success. The money raised will go towards enhancing the already stellar service the charity provides, and you can learn more about the walk and how to register here ([link removed]) .

Esso Pipeline update: I have been keeping in close contact with Esso regarding the installation of their Southampton to London Pipeline, and they have recently provided an update, which you can read here ([link removed]) . Whilst a date and time for a public meeting with residents, representatives from SHBC, and Esso, has yet to be agreed, I will be sure to share further information as soon as I have news.

Surrey Heath Borough Council Afghan Refugee support: I am pleased to report that SHBC are working hard to provide homes for Afghan refugees, and you can read an update on the situation here ([link removed]) .

Silver Sunday: This year, Silver Sunday falls on October 3rd, and I am very much looking forward to hearing what events will be being taking place in care homes in Surrey Heath. You can read my Facebook update ([link removed]) to find out more.

Elmfield House visit: I was hugely grateful to Elmfield House care home in Bisley for welcoming me at the end of July. I was honoured to hand out certificates to the deeply dedicated staff and it was great to speak with Elmfield’s brilliant manager, Niccii, who has worked at the care home for over 7 years.

Surrey Heath Museum visit: I had a fantastic time visiting Surrey Heath Museum at the end of July. There is so much fascinating information to digest, and I can't wait to visit again soon and learn more about the vast historical significance of Surrey Heath. You can read more about my visit here ([link removed]) .

Support for veterans: If you are struggling as a result of the recent events in Afghanistan, there is support available across the United Kingdom for veterans and those affected. You can find out more here ([link removed]) .

UN Climate Change report: The UK has called for greater global ambition on Climate Change as the IPCC finds that world warming is faster than previously estimated. You can find out more here ([link removed]) .

Government Improvement reports: I recently welcomed reports published which set out ways to improve government, including tackling legacy IT systems and improving civil service recruitment. You can read more here ([link removed]) .

Meeting of the Partnership Council: The minutes of the first Partnership Council meeting, in which the Trade and Cooperation Agreement was discussed, have now been released, and you can read more here ([link removed]) .
