Dear John

Join us in celebrating International Primate Day, with a look at what you’ve helped us achieve:

  • Four grivet monkeys, rescued from a life of deprivation at an amusement park in Ethiopia, will enjoy an enriched new life at our rescue centre thanks to YOU
  • You’ve helped Born Free give 52 rescued chimps a health check at Ngamba Island sanctuary in Uganda – they passed with flying colours (and all thankfully covid free)
  • The numbers of critically endangered eastern lowland gorillas (the world’s largest primate) continue to steadily rise in DR Congo – you’ve helped keep them safe since 2000
  • Rescued from the illegal pet trade, gelada baboons are incredibly inquisitive, but LOVE their daily enrichment in Ethiopia thanks to YOUR donations to our recent appeal.

MOJA THE SNARE SURVIVOR

Thanks so much for helping rescue a lion found with a snare around his neck in Meru, Kenya. Born Free supported the Kenya Wildlife Service’s vet team as they removed the wire and treated the nasty wound. Moja has recovered well and been set free, thanks to your amazing support! READ MORE

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BOMA

Talking of lion conservation, with your help Born Free Kenya has built a supersize night enclosure in Amboseli, Kenya to protect livestock, support local communities and encourage coexistence with lions.

THE SMALLEST ORPHAN

Brave Puzha, the brown bear cub rescued in Russia, has gone wild thanks to YOU. She was too little to be released with the other orphans last year but, thanks to your donations to our Raising Cubs appeal, she has just been successfully reintroduced.
