CNN BREAKING: “House passes bill named after John Lewis that strengthens Voting Rights Act”

We had to touch base with you straight away.

First the good (ok, AMAZING) news:

Our Democratic House Majority just passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

This historic legislation would restore part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, making it easier to block or challenge discriminatory election laws.

But here’s the bad (ok, DEVASTATING) news:

The next step to get this critical legislation signed into law goes straight through Mitch McConnell and his Senate Republicans.

And they’re vowing to BLOCK it.

We refuse to let this critical bill end up in Mitch McConnell’s legislation graveyard.

We’re committed to honoring John Lewis’ legacy and expanding voting rights, what he dedicated his entire life to.

That’s why every dollar we raise will go to help register voters to make it easier to vote in the places needed most.

Please, can we count on your $5 right away to fund our critical voter protection efforts?
