Happy Saturday. âï¸
Welcome to another weekend edition of FT Now! Find out what everyone's
saying about last Saturday's election results in Louisiana. Hint: It
doesn't look good for Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards. Speaking of
governors, the president threw his support between GOP candidates in
Mississippi and Kentucky this week. Last but not least, Elizabeth Warren
- once again - dodged questions during the debate about whether
middle-class taxes will go up under her health care plan. Isn't the
charade getting old?
John Bel Edwards Limps Into Runoff As "A Majority of Louisiana Voters
Rejected Him"
What Happened:
Democrat Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards predicted he would win last
weekend's primary outright, but as per usual, he was wrong. A majority
of voters, in fact, cast their ballots for someone else.
Why You Should Care:
For weeks, Edwards and his campaign had been bragging that he would win
the primary outright. Just goes to show the governor doesn't know
Louisiana as well as he thinks he does! What's more, no matter how
"moderate" Edwards claims to be, voters are not interested in the
Democratic Party's radical agenda.
What Happens Next:
The race now goes into a run-off, which gives Louisianans that chance to
turn the Pelican State from blue to red. And based on last Saturday's
results, John Bel Edwards has reason to be worried.

Trump Endorses Republican Candidates Ahead of Gubernatorial Elections
What Happened:
Earlier this week, President Trump endorsed Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves,
who's running for Governor of Mississippi; and Gov. Matt Bevin,
who's running for re-election in Kentucky The president also quickly
threw his support behind Republican Eddie Rispone in Louisiana after he
advanced to a runoff with liberal Democrat John Bel Edward.
Why You Should Care:
Democrats are eyeing both states for potential pick-up opportunities in
November. That said, President Trump's endorsements should go a long
way in making sure voters in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Mississippi cast
their ballots for Rispone, Bevin, and Reeves, respectively.
What Happens Next:
With Election Day less than three weeks away in these states, both
candidates will continue to make their case to the voters. President
Trump, meanwhile, is headed to Kentucky to rally for Gov. Bevin on Nov.

Elizabeth Warren Dodges Questions on Middle-Class Tax Hikes Under
"Medicare For All"
What Happened:
During this week's presidential debate, frontrunner Elizabeth Warren
refused - once again - to admit whether middle class taxes would go up
under her health care plan.
Why You Should Care:
As Sen. Amy Klobuchar said, "At least Bernie's being honest..."
Indeed, while Bernie Sanders is upfront about tax hikes under Medicare
For All, Warren has consistently "dodged questions on whether
middle-class Americans would have to pay more in taxes..." We think
American taxpayers deserve an answer on this one.
What Happens Next:
Mostly likely, Warren continues to produce plans for everything except
how she'll pay for her government takeover of health care.
