John — I just spoke with my finance team, and we’ve made a slightly unusual decision for our end-of-month goal for August.

Instead of aiming for a dollar amount, we’re setting a goal for our total number of contributions. If you read on, I’ll explain this decision in greater detail.

Okay, here goes: you’re likely aware that, due to redistricting, the parameters of our district will be different by the time our primary rolls around.

That means we need to be prepared to mobilize a different set of voters — and to potentially lose some of our base from last election. This could spell trouble in the likely event that a primary challenger jumps into this race.

Our movement is strong, and I know we can go up against any opponent and win. But the best way for us to prove that is to galvanize as many donors as possible, as early as possible, to show all of our opponents that we have a huge amount of support. So I’m asking for your help:

If you’re able, make a donation today to help us hit our 500 contribution goal by August 31st. The contribution is much more important than the dollar amount, because an outpouring of donations will prove to our opponents that this movement isn’t going anywhere.
