** The Republican Party of Navarro County is alive in 2021!!
------------------------------------------------------------

I am Steve Jessup, the new Republican County Chair.

Eric R. Meyers had submitted his resignation letter as County Chair on April 7. His role as Emergency Management Coordinator for Navarro County has become more than a full-time job, along with being President of his business Oil City Iron Works, and most importantly taking care of his family and personal health. In addition to the County COVID-19 coronavirus operations and vaccinations, now against the new COVID-19 variant, he is dealing with a federal disaster declaration due to the extreme subfreezing weather experienced in mid-February. With these O.E.M. responsibilities, Mr. Meyers believed he could not fulfill the duties of County Chair in the capacity he would like and what the local party deserved.

We thank Mr. Meyers for updating the financial records when he was elected County Chair in 2018, invested his own personal resources into Republican Headquarters, and especially enhancing the local party’s on-line presence & social media.

On April 15, I was elected as the new Republican County Chair by the Republican Party of Navarro County Executive Committee, obtaining support from all Precinct Chairs, to complete the remaining (unexpired) term of office of Eric R. Meyers. I bring with me thirty years of experience serving as a Precinct Chair, Election Judge, and basically the public relations / communications person within the local RPNC party during that time – which will be my emphasis to engage voters.

As an Election Judge of the November 2020 Presidential election, I was appalled at the compromised ballot integrity and security that occurred in the strategic cities of Milwaukee, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta – just enough to turn those states blue. Republicans were not allowed in these cities’ central counting stations to exercise their lawful right to witness the results. When conservatives questioned the election results, Joe Biden’s executive orders, southern border crisis, and his socialist / Marxist agenda of critical race theory – we were cancelled by the left, calling us racists. All these lies are intended to silence our U.S. Constitution guaranteed freedom of speech. We must push back against these lies with the truth, supported by facts. Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than socialism ever has.

Rest assured that your vote counts. The Navarro County Elections Administration has audited the November 3, 2020 General Election and May 1, 2021 Special Election results – accounting for every vote. We must vote and make our voice be heard. If we do not, then there would be no need for the other side to cheat.

Election laws are only as good as the Election Judges and Election Clerks that enforce them. Although I cannot control what happens elsewhere, I must ensure that we have election integrity at home. Therefore, during the past several months, I have appointed additional Republican Election Judges and Election Clerks to fill vacancies in our Navarro County Vote Centers, but I still need more for insurance. The other party will have their Election Judges and Election Clerks in place. Republicans must be adequately represented and follow the Election Code. If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, please contact me or Bill Carson.

Upon being sworn-in as County Chair, our www.navgop.com website host expressed he no longer wants this responsibility. Amid the left’s attempts to take down conservative websites, servers, and social media platforms -- our website host disclosed he is a never-Trumper and views our Republican Party of Navarro County website as a liability to his business. He did not want to be associated with our local party, unless we distance ourselves from Trump’s response to the November 2020 Election and January 6 congressional confirmation of the election results, which I could not do. Otherwise, our www.navgop.com website host had been doing a great job during the past decade.

Therefore, I sought Christopher Cofer, whom had prior experience with the website, working for Eric R. Meyers. Bob Buthod and I met with Chris, to develop a plan of action We wanted to utilize the website build our own database of information, rather than relying upon the state or national, and improve E-mail communication with voters, specifically at the County and Precinct level. During the past several months, Chris Cofer migrated the www.navgop.com website to its own separate account. He recommended obtaining the www.navgop.org domain because it is better suited for our non-profit organization, not a commercial business. The website E-mail accounts were migrated to the new domain. Website contacts updated and E-mail forwards set-up. Several plug-ins were reconfigured and activated, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. He added more website security because our political climate. The www.navgop.com will direct you to the new www.navgop.org, but you will need to reset your
Bookmarks and Favorites (I made that mistake). The PayPal has been tested and is functioning properly for donations. The www.navgop.com website domain is due for renewal on September 9, so with coordination with our previous website host to release it from his account, the goal is to complete the migration and transfer the domain to www.navgop.org by then, so that Chris Cofer can continue to manage it.

I had attended the Abbott Digital Summit in Round Rock TX on July 31. I request some volunteers whom are willing to provide positive, clear, and factual social media for the local Republican Party. I had attended the Texas Republican County Chair Association (TRCCA) region 7 meeting in Temple TX on August 7 and received input.

The County Executive Committee met on Monday August 9. In the spring, I had scheduled State Representative HD8 Cody Harris provide an update on the State Legislative Session for August 9, but because of the runaway House Democrats, the Governor called a second Special Session that weekend, and Representative Harris was confined to the State Capitol. I am grateful that our newly elected U.S. Representative District 6 Jake Ellzey was present at the meeting, whom provided an impromptu update on both state and federal. I apologize to Jake Ellzey supporters whom missed seeing and hearing him.

The Republican Party of Navarro County next meeting will be Monday October 11 at 6:30pm. We will be hosting a booth again at the Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival on Saturday October 16 to register voters. If you desire to be a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, contact the Navarro County Elections Office at (903) 875-3330 to attend their VDR class on Friday mornings at 10:00am or set-up for an appointment. In the 2020 election, the Republican Party of Texas registered 200,000 new voters, which was our margin of victory. I have received a new movers list.

Please save the date for our “Don’t Mess With Texas” fundraiser dinner on Friday evening October 22 at the Corsicana Opry & Event Center. Special guest speakers will be Republican Party of Texas Chair Matt Rinaldi and Candidate for Governor Lt. Col. (ret.) Allen B. West. The proceeds will be for local party operations and will stay in Navarro County. Watch for ticket details on our website www.navgop.org.

This event will be fun, yet the Republican Party of Navarro County contributions have dropped off in 2021 like many other non-profit organizations, due to COVID-19 coronavirus shutdowns. Our operations account pays for our Republican Headquarters building lease, maintenance, utilities, and insurance. We have four contribution levels:

$ 100 Roosevelt Sponsor – Member pin, Annual Display Board

$ 500 Eisenhower Sponsor – Medium member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition.

$ 1000 Lincoln Sponsor – Large member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition, Special seating at events.

$ 5000 Reagan Sponsor – Large member pin, Annual Display Board, Events recognition and VIP Table / Seating at events.

Please keep the Republican Party of Navarro County strong throughout the year, going into 2022. The Republican Headquarters is a valuable resource for the local party, as well as the Navarro County Republican Women’s club. I was able to recruit volunteers

for Election Judges and Election Clerks, because they either called into Headquarters or came in-person. Many are young to receive the baton from the older. As a result Republicans will be represented as poll workers to ensure a fair election in Navarro County. “Bring America Back” in 2022.

I want close with a tribute to my father, Robert Jessup, whom passed away June 10, 2021 at age 94, due to complications from a fall and fractured hip. He probably had a few more years left in him. He was born and grew up in the farmland of western Nebraska, served in the U.S. Army for two years, before settling in Maryland to raise a family. He worked at the Westinghouse Electric Defense Division located at the Baltimore airport on radars for the F-16 and AWACS aircraft. He was a lifelong Republican and was always interested in what we were doing here with the Texas GOP. He visited me in Corsicana every year in the 1980’s and 1990’s so you might have met him. As his Executor, I spent about a month during the summer at his retirement village in Silver Spring MD (outside of Washington DC), for his memorial service, meeting with our estate settlement lawyers, and clearing out his apartment. By the grace of God, I was able to submit the keys to his vacated apartment on July 12, so I do not need
to return in the near future, although I am still dealing with his estate. I do intend to spend more time at Republican Headquarters.
