After voting to overturn presidential election results and voting against the bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th insurrection, Elise Stefanik continues her gaslighting of the American people and her assault on our democracy by inviting notorious traitor, bigot and Q-Anon conspiracy theorist Scott Presler to the North Country.

Stefanik calls Presler a patriot despite his participation in the rally that led to the insurrection at the Capitol, which resulted in the deaths of several people, including police officers. That Stefanik, an elected official sworn to protect this country, either does not know or does not care about the difference between a real patriot and a traitor is scary. Elected officials should be condemning traitors to justice, not hosting events with them.

Presler is problematic for other reasons as well. His branding of the insurrection as a ‘civil rights protest’ is a disgusting distortion of history and proves he does not know the meaning of ‘civil rights’ or ‘protest.’ The March on Washington was a civil rights protest. Selma was a civil rights protest. The National March for Equality was a civil rights protest. Storming the Capitol because your candidate was defeated in a free and fair election is not a civil rights protest. Further, his involvement with an anti-Muslim hate group is antithetical to the foundational American ideals that all people are to be treated equally.

Next year we have the chance to hold Stefanik accountable. By building a strong, grassroots campaign, we can reach voters and show them the truth about Stefanik and her extremism. But I can’t do this without you. Please, contribute to reach our rapid response goal.
