John --
101 years ago, the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. As historic as the moment was, Black women would have to wait five more decades to make their voices heard in elections. Even then, they faced significant barriers to voting.
And, John, they still do.
Republicans are passing bills all across the country to make it harder for Black women to exercise their right to vote. These voter suppression tactics are racist and anti-democratic.
We have a chance to change this. The For the People Act would help end the disenfranchisement of Black women and protect their voices and votes.
That's why we are fighting to pass this historic legislation and finally put an end to the voter suppression laws that Republicans are passing in state legislatures. But our campaign fundraising has slowed down, right when we need it most. If we don't succeed, the GOP will steal the next election and take control of Congress.
That's why we have to ask you now: Will you recommit to the dream of the 19th amendment and allow our campaign for voting rights to continue? Without you, we'll have to shut it down.
