Earlier this week at the fourth Democratic debate, the moderators finally
asked about abortion — a crucial step forward made thanks to nearly 10,000
NARAL members who sent messages to CNN and The New York Times urging them
to.

Recent polling confirms that voters want and need to hear about how the
next president plans to take action to protect and expand abortion rights
and access, because they know that right now, reproductive freedom is
under all-out assault.^1,2

But with the Supreme Court taking up June Medical Services LLC v. Gee this
term, we can’t afford to sit back and wait for 2020 to take action to
protect our fundamental freedoms.^3

[ [link removed] ]That’s why we’re calling on Congress to hold a vote on the Women’s
Health Protection Act (WHPA) now.

WHPA provides federal protections for abortion rights and access. That
means that even if the anti-choice majority on the Supreme Court guts or
overturns the protections of Roe v. Wade when they rule in June Medical
Services LLC v. Gee, our right to make our own decisions about abortion,
without political interference, will be protected no matter where we live.

2020 is going to be a huge year for us,

Reproductive freedom is a winning issue — and we’re going to use the
energy around it to win in the House, the Senate, and the White House.
