Volunteers needed for Nikkita Oliver for District 9 this Thursday at 7PM.

This Thursday at 7 PM is a canvassing mobilizer training at Electoral's August Meeting. Nikkita Oliver themself will be speaking. Electoral will be recruiting people for specific roles like mobilization, phonebanking, and turf-cutting. If you're new to electoral organizing, there will be opportunities to learn from experienced organizers, some have volunteered for Kshama Sawant and Bernie Sanders previously. An abolitionist and socialist can and will win in November. DSA needs your support to make it happen.

Divest SPD and Immigrant Justice Committees both meet this week:

Divest SPD will have a quick update about their campaigns to get Seattle Foundation and Starbucks to divest from Seattle Police Foundation and reinvest in BIPOC community organizations. Co-Chairs will also discuss changes to the mission statement of Divest SPD as well as lay groundwork for new folx to step into the co-chair roles.

Immigrant Justice Committee plans for a refresher check-in for all our accompaniment volunteers, where they'll talk about how accompaniment has changed during COVID and what you can do moving forward, as well as how the group can continue to support partner orgs in their work (WAISN, La Resistencia).
