Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 26 | August 14th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear John, New York made history this week--but yet again for all the wrong reasons. Cuomo finally announced he would resign from office, but not because he was prepared to admit to any wrongdoing or accept accountability for his actions. In fact, in classic Cuomo fashion, he impugned his accusers, lied about his actions, and cried that he is the real victim in all of this. It is good news for taxpayers that he is finally leaving office, but resignation does not equal accountability. Cuomo is guilty of a number of crimes and corrupt actions on everything from his deadly nursing home scandal to his disgusting $5 million dollar book deal to his numerous incidents of workplace sexual harassment. New Yorkers deserve the full truth and his victims deserve justice. That’s why Republicans called for the impeachment process to move forward, but in a slimy move designed to give Cuomo cover once again, Democrats late yesterday suddenly announced they were suspending their investigation. This tells you everything you need to know about the depth of corruption and protection Democrats provide each other at your expense. Taxpayers are the ones who funded this impeachment investigation--to the tune of $1 million--and they have a right to know not just the truth about Andrew Cuomo’s wrongdoing, but the role of his senior officials and perhaps other elected officials. We will fight to make public every document and email associated with this investigation and ensure that the Democrats who have protected and enabled this corrupt governor are exposed as well. It should not be lost on any New Yorker that the last governor to not leave office in disgrace was a Republican. Democrats from Anthony Weiner to Eliot Spitzer to Eric Schneiderman, and now Andrew Cuomo have brought nothing but shame and embarrassment to our once great state. The only way we are going to restore integrity to our government and respect for taxpayers is to wipe out the entire Cuomo cabal and break up the one-Party rule that arrogantly thinks they can get away with all of this. Please join our mission today to SAVE OUR STATE. We value all of your feedback and questions. Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! NYGOP Team Ask a Question! Question from Last Week: From Devin: Why does Cuomo need 14 days to resign and why is the legislature still sitting on their hands instead of punishing this guy? Answer: Thanks, Devin. In short, he doesn't. He should be immediately removed from office because he is a danger to New Yorkers. He can use this time to shred evidence, move money and cover his tracks so he can evade justice for his rampant corruption. The legislature should have immediately impeached him to prevent that very thing from happening, but once again they have chosen to protect Cuomo over doing what's right for the 19 million people of this state. You are witnessing a front-row seat to the Albany Democrat swamp & that's why we are fighting so hard to bring balance and accountability back to state government. It's the only way to stop them. ANDREW CUOMO RESIGNS IN DISGRACE! While it's good news that Andrew Cuomo will no longer be able to wield the immense powers of the governor's office to commit his crimes, there is no time to celebrate. The fight to save our state and stop extreme one-party rule has only just begun. Help us stop the extreme radicals from grabbing more power! Now is the time to step up and help us deliver change by sending a Republican governor to Albany! Take a stand by chipping in $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford to help us save New York State. Chris Koetzle Glenville Town Supervisor Supervisor Koetzle has served Glenville for 14 years on the Board. Website Facebook Donate NYGOP Must See News: New York Republicans Want Cuomo Impeachment Findings Made Public Daily Wire Now that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) has announced his resignation — which will take place 12 days from now — it is unclear whether the New York state legislature will hold a formal impeachment vote against the disgraced governor. Republicans on the New York State Assembly Judiciary Committee on Wednesday demanded the findings of the impeachment probe be released to the public, even though Cuomo resigned. Nick Langworthy, the New York State Republican Committee Chairman, posted the statement on Twitter, saying the “impeachment investigation must continue.” “NY Taxpayers have already paid the bill, now we are owed the facts. This isn’t just about @NYGovCuomo, it is about his entire corrupt administration. What administration officials had roles in these many abuses of the public trust?” Langworthy added. Read Full Here Cuomo Resignation Could Be Advantageous for Republicans in New York Governor's Race Newsweek Congressman Lee Zeldin is the leading Republican for the nomination and garnered 85 percent support in the June straw poll. A supporter of Cuomo's resignation, Zeldin criticized Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, who will now assume the role of governor, for "empowering" Cuomo's "disgusting behavior," and advocated for voters to "rid" the state of their "disgraceful legacy." "The last three Democrat governors have left office embroiled in scandal," Zeldin said. "Voters in New York need to take back control of how we are governing and set the standards we want for those who are given the honor of serving us." Zeldin also has the backing of the Conservative Party, which is critical for Republicans because, as the third-largest political party in New York, it could give a GOP candidate a much-needed boost. Read Full Here NY republicans, democrats look ahead to 2022 amid Cuomo resignation Binghamton Homepage Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s resignation leaves a deep hole in the plans for who the democrats will run during the 2022 gubernatorial election. NEWS10 ABC tracked down the republican and democratic chairmen to see what’s next for both parties. “Him letting go of power shows he truly saw no avenue forward,” Republican Chair Nick Langworthy said. Langworthy was caught by surprise by the Governor’s announcement. “I did not think he was capable of uttering the words ‘my resignation,'” he said. Langworthy has wasted no time as Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul gets ready to run the state. He’s focused on republican frontrunner Lee Zeldin for next year’s election. “Lee is well on his way,” Langworthy said. “He’s raised the most funds that any republican running has raised in 20 years. He has built momentum.” The democrats, on the other hand, do not have a clear frontrunner as they grapple with Hochul’s limited public profile. Read Full Here Impeach Cuomo anyway — so he pays the full price for his misconduct New York Post Gov. Andrew Cuomo has delayed his exit for two weeks. Why? Because he wants to. The Assembly should take the opportunity to impeach him anyway, so the state Senate can vote him guilty. It’s their duty to the people of New York to ensure Cuomo pays the full penalty for his gross misconduct. It’s not just the violations of federal and New York law — including laws he signed himself! —outlined in state Attorney General Letitia James’s damning report on multiple counts of sexual harassment, nor even his plainly illegal use of state resources to malign his accusers. No: His abuses in covering up the true death toll in state care homes, a body count clearly inflated by his orders that homes take in COVID-contagious patients, are an outrage in and of themselves, as is his refusal to rescind the main order for 46 days and another for months. Read Full Here Cuomo resignation: New York's last three governors, all Democrats, left office amid scandal Fox News It’s been 15 years since a New York governor left office without a scandal and just as long since a Republican has held the job. Republican Gov. George Pataki, who unseated Gov. Mario Cuomo in 1995 and went on to serve three terms, left office at the end of 2006. Pataki was succeeded by Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a former attorney general, who resigned after just two years following a scandal involving a high-priced prostitution ring. His replacement, former Lt. Gov. David Paterson, did not resign; however, he called off his campaign for a full term in office in 2010 amid allegations that his administration improperly intervened after a woman accused one of his close aides of domestic violence. And Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the son of Mario Cuomo and another former attorney general, announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon following a damning investigation into sexual harassment allegations leveled by 11 women.
