With the dangerous delta variant spreading nationwide, and businesses and schools returning to in-person, it is absolutely critical that every worker and family have access to paid leave. 

For far too long, paid leave has been a luxury left up to the whim of employers. 

And we know from our recent paid leave survey that many of you who’ve needed paid leave to care for yourself or a family member didn't have that luxury.

We’re fighting for a national paid family and medical leave program that would allow people to take time off of work to care for themselves and their families, regardless of who their employer is. A policy like this is essential to fixing the inequities that are pushing women out of the workforce and into poverty.

Thanks to this community of activists and our partners in the Paid Leave for All coalition, Senate Democrats just advanced a budget resolution that lays the groundwork for much-needed investments to address long-standing inequities in health care, social and climate policy.

We truly have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fix our crumbling care infrastructure — including creating a long-overdue and first-ever national paid family and medical leave program.

The United States is the only high-wealth nation in the world that doesn't have a paid leave program. And the past year has highlighted just how much caregiving is an essential part of our community. 

But despite all the support for paid leave, there's still a chance it can get cut from the plan before it’s finalized this fall.
