Here’s where we are in the fight for a pathway to citizenship: Democratic leaders in Congress have included a pathway to citizenship in the budget reconciliation process. That’s a strong start.

This week, the Senate will debate and vote on the budget resolution that starts this process — and it is absolutely critical that funding for a pathway to citizenship for millions of Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and essential workers remains in the resolution.

This is the best chance we have had in years to fix our broken immigration system, and if we come up short, we might not get another chance for a very long time. Will you call your senators today to urge them to get this done now?

This process will require Congress to first pass the budget resolution, and then pass a subsequent budget bill in the early fall. We have to make sure funding for these provisions passes both steps.

A reconciliation bill that includes citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and other essential workers will boost economic growth, create jobs, and increase wages for all Americans. Now is the time to let your senators know that the American people expect them to get this done.
