Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 25 | August 8th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear John, This was a huge week for the NYGOP. Shockwaves once again ripped through the capital when Attorney General Tish James announced the findings of her investigation into the numerous allegations of sexual harassment and abuse made against Governor Cuomo. While the findings of the Attorney General’s report are deeply disturbing and confirm Governor Cuomo violated state and federal laws, they should not have come as a surprise to anyone. For months, we have heard the testimonies of multiple women who bravely detailed the horrific abuse and assaults perpetrated on them by this Governor and covered up by his administration. Sadly, this pattern of sexual harassment and abuse is only one chapter in the Cuomo book of corruption, law-breaking and sociopathic behavior. Countless lives have been destroyed by his actions throughout his tenure, including the thousands of seniors who lost their lives at the hands of his deadly nursing home order. Chairman Langworthy and the Republicans called for Cuomo’s impeachment back in February, but for months Democrats in the legislature have slow-walked taking any action, buying time to protect this corrupt governor. Many have even stood shoulder to shoulder with him at his propaganda-style events designed to get New Yorkers to forget about his scandals. Cuomo will never resign--and every day that Democrats allow him to stay in power is a danger to New Yorkers. Time is up--we need an impeachment vote, NOW! Cuomo's problems have put a huge spotlight on the race for governor, and for the first time in a very long time, there is incredible hope and excitement for our chances to elect a Republican governor next year. That's why we are working so hard to lay the groundwork today to allow us to be successful next November. A huge part of that is raising the resources we need to be competitive. We are proud to report that our incredible event with President Trump earlier this week was a record-breaking success, bringing in more than one million dollars to the NYGOP. This was a huge night for us. More than 400 New Yorkers from across the state traveled to Westchester County to hear from our 45th President and support our efforts to break up the one-Party rule here at home and in Washington. We were honored to welcome the President home for this event and are so grateful for his loyalty and support of our efforts to save our state. We value all of your feedback and questions. Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! NYGOP Team Ask a Question! Question from Last Week: From Louise: How many total investigations are there into Governor Cuomo and what more do they need to remove him? Answer: Thanks, Louise. There are several ongoing investigations that are looking at everything from the sexual harassment allegations to the nursing home coverup to his $5m book deal. Five district attorneys in New York are investigating the allegations against him, while one of his victims just filed a criminal complaint with the Albany County Sheriffs' office. The Assembly is still conducting their investigation, which includes the nursing home scandal and others, such as his decision to use faulty bolts while building the Cuomo bridge in order to rush its opening before election day. Most importantly, the U.S. Attorney is still investigating his deadly nursing home coverup. I feel strongly that the governor must be held criminally liable and face prosecution for his role in the deaths of 15,000 New York seniors. Time will tell, but it feels like we are finally getting closer to justice. $1 Million Raised for the New York Republican Party Thanks to President Donald J. Trump This event was a record-breaking success thanks to President Donald Trump and all of YOU. The New York Republican Party raised more than $1 million dollars to put towards our efforts to save New York and elect common-sense Republicans to office. Haven't had a chance to contribute yet?? And he maintained that approach Wednesday morning during a stop in Buffalo. New York’s GOP chairman Nick Langworthy is calling for Cuomo’s impeachment, saying the governor cannot be permitted to stay in power for one more day. Langworthy also commended the accusers for coming forward, saying they helped shine a light on Cuomo’s true character. “Cuomo’s abuse, his narcissism, his egomania and utter disregard for the rule of law is something that everyone has known but few have been brave enough to challenge,” Langworthy said. He went on to talk about Cuomo’s mishandling of the nursing home crisis and the controversy surrounding his book about the pandemic. Cuomo ‘Could Get Very Ugly’ CBS 2 “Cuomo cannot be permitted to stay in power for one more day and if the state Assembly under the leadership of Carl Heastie had been doing his job all along, they wouldn’t need any more time. It would be done already,” New York State Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy said earlier Wednesday. At least 55 of the 63 members of the state Senate, which would vote to remove Gov. Cuomo if he were impeached, have now called for his resignation. Heastie, the Assembly speaker, is the man who would oversee Cuomo’s impeachment. On Tuesday, he finally broke ranks, saying in a statement, “He can no longer remain in office. … We will move expeditiously and look to conclude our impeachment investigation as quickly as possible.” Read Full Here Trump rips into Andrew Cuomo at NY Republican fundraiser New York Post Former President Donald Trump ripped into embattled Gov. Andrew Cuomo at a New York State Republican Party fundraiser Thursday night — alluding to the governor facing impeachment after a state investigative report branded the three-term Democrat a serial sexual harasser of female underlings. Trump also was bullish that the Republicans have a chance to win the governorship. “Cuomo’s got real problems,” Trump said at the event held at the Trump National Golf Course in Briarcliff. He gave a shout-out to the state Senate Republican Minority Leader Robert Ortt, who would participate in a Senate trial to remove Cuomo if the Assembly impeaches him. Read Full Here 10 of the biggest findings from the Cuomo sexual harassment probe NBC News The report issued Tuesday by the New York attorney general's office graphically detailed numerous accusations of sexual harassment by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The governor forcefully denied the allegations and ignored renewed calls for his resignation after the report was released. Here are the 10 most explosive excerpts from the report: Cuomo engaged in "a pattern of inappropriate conduct" with a woman dubbed Executive Assistant #1, which included kissing her on the lips at least once, grabbing her buttocks during hugs, asking multiple times about whether she had cheated or would cheat on her husband, and once reaching under her blouse and grabbing her breast. The governor sexually harassed a New York state trooper assigned to his security detail on a number of occasions. Cuomo ran "his hand across her stomach, from her belly button to her right hip" as she held a door open. Read Full Here Poll: New Yorkers Want Cuomo to Go US News New York voters responded overwhelmingly overnight to a devastating report that their governor, Andrew Cuomo, had sexually harassed 11 women: Just go, already. A survey by the nonpartisan Marist Institute of Public Opinion in Poughkeepsie, New York, found that 59% of New Yorkers – including 52% of registered Democrats – believe the three-term Democrat should resign. An equal portion believe Cuomo should be impeached if he does not leave voluntarily. While Cuomo has yet to face an impeachment trial or legal proceeding on the damning charges, "the court of public opinion believes the allegations against Governor Cuomo warrant his removal from office," Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist poll, said in a statement released with the poll. "Even if he survives this scandal, his re-election prospects are rock bottom with even his Democratic base deserting him." Andrew M. Cuomo found himself increasingly isolated on Wednesday, with his most loyal supporters abandoning him and four more prosecutors saying they would investigate his behavior. Several unions that had long been aligned with Mr. Cuomo withdrew their support on Wednesday. Two past members of his administration — including a former legal adviser who had been consulted in the governor’s strategic meetings on how to fight the accusations — asked him to resign. By late afternoon, Mr. Cuomo had lost the backing of perhaps his closest political ally, Jay Jacobs, the head of the state’s Democratic Party, who has been the governor’s staunchest defender in recent months. In a statement, Mr. Jacobs said that the governor’s removal from office was “inevitable,” and that Mr. Cuomo’s refusal to step down ran counter to Mr. Jacobs’s advice. “The governor has lost his ability to govern, both practically and morally,” said Mr. Jacobs, who was handpicked by Mr. Cuomo for the job in 2019.
