With the Election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, we broke boundaries. 

V.P. Harris is the first female, first black and first Asian American U.S. vice president. Before the polls even opened, she was the first Black woman to even appear on a major party’s national ticket.

But, with her new role, she leaves our U.S. Senate without a single Black woman in office. There are currently no Black women in the Senate following an election with critical victories powered largely by Black women.

Val Demings would bring critical insights and perspectives to the Senate both by her qualifications and her background. We need greater diversity in the Senate, and couldn’t ask for a better candidate than Val.
