Dear
John,
I’m on my way to Capitol Hill to join our coalition’s Paid Leave for All bus tour, where I’ll be speaking up for all of the courageous people trying to care for loved ones without paid leave.
We know that #CareCan’tWait, and we’re calling on Congress to pass essential caregiving support — like paid family and medical leave — that women and families urgently need.
It’s past time to recognize caregiving as an essential part of our American infrastructure. The devaluation of caregiving work is rooted in racism and sexism and disproportionately harms women and workers of color.
That’s why even
CEOs have joined our push for paid family and medical leave laws because, according to Shama Amalean Skinner, COO of Thinx Inc, “Nobody should have to worry if staying home with a serious illness or starting a family could cost them their job.”
The United States is the only high-wealth nation in the world that doesn't have a paid leave program. And the past year has highlighted just how much caregiving is an essential part of our community.
We want to hear from you. Please take two minutes to tell us what the paid leave policy is at your workplace IF it has one. Your experience will help us gather more evidence for the push for paid leave.
Thank you!
— Debra
