Dear John,
Lillian's List Foundation envisions a North Carolina where women are able to access complete health care and freely and fully participate in political and economic life.
We're so excited to have amazing female legislators in the General Assembly working every day to make this vision a reality. In order to celebrate them, we have launched a new series called #WomanCrushWednesday. This week our #WomanCrush is Senator Natasha Marcus!

FEATURED BILL: EQUAL PAY ACT
North Carolina ranks 32nd in the nation [[link removed]] for women's pay, meaning the median earnings for women trail that of men by about $9,000 a year.
In order to address this disparity, Sen. Marcus introduced the Equal Pay Act [[link removed]] this April along with her colleagues Sens. deViere and Salvador. The bill would require comparable work to be compensated equally, banning gender-based discrimination [[link removed]] in wages, salaries, and benefits.
The Act would also prohibit employers from seeking or screening job applicants based on salary history [[link removed]], and ban companies from prohibiting their employees from discussing their wages.
It's critical legislation that would have an enormous impact in North Carolina. Closing the gender wage gap [[link removed]] not only helps women, it helps children, families, businesses, and the economy.
In solidarity,
