If you turn on Fox News or any of the networks enabling the autocratic movement right now, you’ll probably see someone moaning about Critical Race Theory, yelling about mask mandates, or some insanity about vaccines. Sure, the corporate overlords ordered Hannity to walk it back on vaccines, but how long did that last network-wide? About five minutes.

You know what you aren’t seeing? Coverage of the January 6th select committee and the riveting testimony coming from the officers. It is damning and they know it.

This is exactly why kicking Jordan and Banks off the committee and starting with the officers mattered so much. Officer Hodges called it a “white nationalist insurrection.” CPD officers testified that they were repeatedly called the n-word during the assault. Tasered.

If we had let the autocratic cult memory hole what happened -- or let Jim Jordan yell about how the officers were traitors or whatever came into his head -- where would we be? It would just be a circus. Instead, the truths that are coming out are more powerful than anyone in the Beltway media who were crying “but bipartisanship” would have guessed.

So now Democrats in Congress must keep up the drumbeat. As Trippi suggested this week, call Romney. You might not need to subpoena him. Then subpoena everyone. Jordan. Boebert. Find out why Mo Brooks wore body armor to his let’s-start-an-insurrection speech. And don’t stop there.

At the same time there are other threads we must continue to pull to make sure we win next year. You saw we beat Toyota earlier this month and forced them to stop funding the Sedition Caucus. Now we have AT&T in our crosshairs and more corporate actions are on the way. We called out Fox News for killing people with their anti-vaccine propaganda.

It all fits together, Friend.

And we are seeing some cracks in the Trump armor. A Trumpist lost in TX-6 this week. He has to be furious that his hand-picked candidate lost and he’s already blaming anyone who’s dumb enough to listen to him. There will be more elections and more losses for him if we keep this up. Not to mention he’s still fuming that his buddy Tom Brady went to the White House and schmoozed with the real President, Joe Biden. Did you see our ad making fun of him? If you are in Bedminster, you sure did.

But the threat this authoritarian movement poses to our democracy cannot be taken lightly. We have to remain vigilant. His cronies like Mike Flynn are still openly discussing more violence. He - with an assault rifle on stage - joked he’d find someone in DC to assassinate. And the crowd predictably went nuts.

There are other signs of progress, that our movement is growing. The Lincoln Project is gaining strength because you and hundreds of thousands of other pro-democracy Americans stuck with us and have kept us in this fight. We are growing every day. And we are making sure no one can ignore the clear and present danger to our democracy.

Others are starting to get it. The head of Stacey Abrams’ group in Georgia, Nsé Ufot, told Politico “If there isn’t a way for us to repeat what happened in November 2020, we’re f*ed.”

Because the consequences of what the autocrats are doing are starting to set in.

A new study estimates that nearly 300,000 voters in Georgia are affected by their new voter suppression legislation. And what color do you think those voters are? Biden won by 12,670 votes. You do the math.

So the Senate is taking up a revised voting rights bill. Not a moment too soon. This is critical. As many have said this week “you can’t out-organize extreme gerrymandering.” The Democrats can’t fall into the trap that they will just outwork everyone next year and win. Math is math. They have to pass something taking on voter suppression and gerrymandering or next year WILL be a bloodbath.

And in 2024? Michael Wolff told the Times last week he’s sure Trump is running. Trump’s telling his friends he will run. We can’t let them fight on a skewed battlefield. History is rife with losers who tried to keep their heads down and ignore opponents’ momentum.

All of you have already done so much to help us secure our democracy and make sure Trump doesn’t win next year, in 2024, or any year after that. The Lincoln Project has thrived because we’re the ones speaking truth to power. We aren’t letting Democrats rest on their laurels because if they do, democracy loses. And we won’t let the Republicans hide from their actions or waltz to victory by rigging the deck.
