Friend, 

Did you watch the testimony from the four Capitol Police officers yesterday during the January 6th committee hearing? Heartbreaking. Gutting. Horrifying. 

What you and I understand -- and what we have to make the rest of America understand -- is that January 6th wasn’t a one-off with a few crazy rioters losing their minds. It was planned. It was intentional. And it was encouraged (and now whitewashed) by nearly every major Republican official left in America. This is who the burning wreck of the Republican Party is now.

Tara and I talked about it last night on The Breakdown. It is worth a watch:

We may not agree on everything but we cannot shy away from the truth anymore: No matter what our disagreements may be, there are not two parties in America anymore.

One “party” directs racist white nationalist terrorists to attack the Capitol and scream the N-word at Capitol Police. One “party” actively encourages sedition and will do anything to hold onto the cult of Trump and the power that it provides.

When you hear them bleat about Critical Race Theory or vomit out “back the blue” we all know what it means. These are the rallying cries of a racist, autocratic movement that has very little else to cling to. They’ve purged everyone who tried to stand up to them. 

That’s why the testimony from the officers this week is so horrifying and so important.

I know you aren’t ignoring it. You’ve been keeping us in this fight. But our mission now is to make sure that your friends and neighbors don’t ignore it. Corporate America can’t ignore it. 

Anyone on the side of democracy can’t ignore it.

Watch and share my message from last night. I was fired up and emotional because that is what it is going to take to help save our democracy. Please find one friend who hasn’t seen the officers’ testimony yesterday and talk to them about it. 

You know the stakes. If we keep growing this pro-democracy coalition we are going to win this fight. But it will take all of us.
