John,
Today, fewer rufous hummingbirds brighten the days of people who live along their sky path—their populations have been steadily declining since 1966. Without conservation action, this tiny, feisty bird could disappear altogether from our gardens and parks!
There are 129 members of Congress supporting a groundbreaking bill to fund wildlife conservation, the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act—but your representative isn’t one of them, John.
Stand up for wildlife like the rufous hummingbird and send a message to your member of Congress urging them to support the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
The rufous hummingbird isn’t the only North American species that’s declining at an alarming rate: A new study found that we’ve lost cumulatively 3 billion birds since 1970 by adding up the declines in the populations of North American bird species. We need to take immediate steps to reverse this decline or America’s skies could go silent.
Don’t let America’s birds disappear. Please tell your member of Congress to support the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
To put things simply, we aren’t directing enough federal funding towards saving America’s at-risk and vulnerable wildlife right now. States and tribal nations currently receive less than 5% of the funds they need to help our nation’s imperiled species.
The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act will provide states and tribal nations with the financial resources to prevent at-risk wildlife from becoming endangered. This landmark legislation will allow us to be proactive, instead of just reactive, to address the current wildlife crisis.
You can help us save the rufous hummingbird and all of America’s vulnerable wildlife, John. Tell your member of Congress to support this much-needed conservation funding legislation, the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
