Seattle Democratic Socialists of America

We're closing in on final week of the 2021 primary -- which means it's hella important to get-out-the-vote for Nikkita Oliver and get our member-endorsed candidate and the wider movement into officer.

There is a special DSA training on best practices talking with friends and co-workers about Nikkita Oliver on Tuesday, July 27 at 7 PM. Register here. This Get Out the Vote training prepares for those conversations from canvasses, in-person talks, and online to bring in their neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family to the movement! There are also canvassing opportunities:
  • Wednesday, 7/28, 5:30 PM @ Garfield Playfield with SEA
  • Thursday, 7/29, 5:30 PM @ 6th Ave NW Pocket Park with KCYD and YDUW
  • Saturday, 7/31, 12 PM @ Rainier Playfield with Seattle DSA
  • Sunday, 8/1, 12 PM @ Gasworks Park. Tentatively with MLK Labor
  • Monday, 8/2, 5:30 PM @ Judkins Park
  • Tuesday, 8/3, TBD @ Cap Hill

Monday, July 26 is the last day you can register online or via mail to vote in the August 3 primary for Nikkita Oliver. If you miss that, register in-person by August 3. You must deposit your ballot by 8 PM on August 3 at a drop-box location. Find your nearest drop-box on a map here.

Do you want to defund Seattle police and also want to dismantle Israel's apartheid violence on Palestine? We've got a Defund One, Dismantle One deal! The Deadly Exchange is a collection of joint trainings between US police and Israeli Occupation forces. Bad-bad, not good! Our Anti-War Caucus is boosting this toolkit and action to get City Council to divest from funding violence on Palestine and to stop SPD from training with military forces.

Finally, Divest SPD has a public pressure campaign to get the Seattle Foundation to commit to divesting from policing as its own appointed advisory board recommended and getting those funds into BIPOC communities that have borne the weight of policing in society.
