Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 23 | July 24th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear John, New York Democrat socialists are as energized as ever and on the march to take over MORE of the New York State legislature. They just announced plans this week to grow their ranks even further, which will be a death knell for our state. It's bad enough that New York's radical leftward lurch has given us massive violent crime spikes, a depressed economy and the highest taxes in the nation. That's why electing a Republican governor is more important than ever. Our efforts to do just that continue to get a major boost by Cuomo's ongoing scandals. He spent the entire week in hiding following his 13-hour grilling by investigators regarding his workplace sexual harassment charges. Meanwhile, he has sent the worst of his corrupt lackeys to intimidate and harass the victims and the investigators on Twitter and in the media. For a guy who said bring on the investigation to "prove his innocence," he's acting anything but. Longtime donors and supporters continue to distance themselves from this corrupt governor. Disturbing reports were released this week from former Cuomo donors and supporters detailing the all-out extortion tactics employed by Team Cuomo to trade state contracts, state permits, and licenses for millions in dirty campaign cash. Through it all, the Andrew Cuomo pay-for-play scheme is still in full swing: he collected $230,000 in donations from individuals connected to $60+ million in state contracts in his most recent filings. While Cuomo continues to tank, our presumptive GOP nominee Congressman Lee Zeldin is traveling around the state with a message of returning common sense, integrity and respect for taxpayers back to New York. We value all of your feedback and questions. Don't forget to hit the button below and send in any questions you may have for Chairman Langworthy and we will feature one in next week's newsletter! NYGOP Team Ask a Question! Question from Last Week: From Kaitlyn: I was so disturbed to see Biden's DOJ decline to investigate the states who forced covid-positive patients into nursing homes. These were all done by Democrat governors and now these families will be denied justice. What can be done? Answer: Thank you for your question, Kaitlyn. I was just as outraged as you were. This was clearly a purely partisan move to protect Democrat governors who made the asinine and illogical decision that allowed covid to spread like wildfire through our most vulnerable population and resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly New Yorkers. As furious as I was to learn about this, I want to urge New Yorkers not to give up hope that Cuomo will still be held accountable. This decision has no bearing on the U.S. Attorney's investigation into Cuomo's nursing home coverup and his disgusting, corrupt $5.1 million book deal. It also should have no bearing on the Assembly's impeachment investigation. I am hopeful that the U.S. Attorney will be able to build a strong enough case to prosecute, but we will not give up fighting for his removal from office either through impeachment or at the ballot box. One way or another--justice is coming for Andrew Cuomo. Enter Now: Win FREE Tickets to See President Donald J. Trump! Great news! Cuomo’s lawyer blasts threat of impeachment ‘punishment’ for aide’s tweet New York Post State Republican Committee Chairman Nick Langworthy mocked Cuomo as “Mr. Emmy” over the award he won for his coronavirus briefings and called it “funny” that he’s “suddenly camera-shy since his 13-hour deposition.” “While Cuomo stays in hiding, he’s using his taxpayer-funded hatchet man to do his dirty work,” Langworthy said. “It’s about time he got smacked down for his threats and intimidation tactics — his same old tired playbook is way past its shelf life.” Read Full Here Gov. Andrew Cuomo Is Losing Major Political Donors Amid Federal, State Probes Wall Street Journal For over a decade, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been a fundraising juggernaut, taking in more than $130 million from developers, unions, finance executives and others to build a sheen of invincibility around his governorship. But Mr. Cuomo is starting to lose some of his major donors, suffering defections in recent weeks that could complicate an expected re-election bid as he fights off a state sexual harassment probe and a federal investigation into how his administration handled Covid-19 in nursing homes. The desertions are a worrying sign for a governor who has sought to project strength through one of the rockiest stretches of his 11 years as governor. Mr. Cuomo raised $2.3 million over the past six months—the second-smallest haul of any such period of his governorship, according to campaign finance disclosures filed last week. For the first time, he was outraised by a Republican rival, U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin, who announced a gubernatorial bid in April. A hundred-plus labor unions, civil-rights groups and legal-aid outfits are calling on the Legislature to force businesses and landlords to do the latter, demanding that lawmakers reconvene to pass the Clean Slate bill. The bill would seal conviction records after three years for misdemeanors and seven years for felonies and eventually expunge them completely, derailing the oversight of repeat offenders. Excluded would be those permanently on the sex-offender registry, anyone currently on probation or parole supervision and those with pending state criminal charges. Even so, it would erase 2.3 million convictions from records like they never happened. The bills come amid growing concerns over shootings in cities across the state and would seek to turn back aspects of the criminal justice law changes approved in recent years. The bills include expanding bail provisions to include hate crimes and a strengthening of domestic violence laws. Another bill would have repeat offenders qualify for bail, while Republicans also want to criminalize anti-Semisitim under the state's human rights law. The GOP lawmakers also want to fully reverse the changes to bail and discovery law changes while also boost penalties for crimes committed on the property of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Speaking on "Varney & Co." on Monday, Catsimatidis said he expected that "by October you’re going to have over a 6% annualized rate of inflation." Catsimatidis, who is also the CEO of Red Apple Group, a real estate and aviation company, made the prediction one week after it was revealed that U.S. consumer prices rose last month at the fastest pace since August 2008. The Labor Department said Tuesday that prices rose 5.4% year over year with prices trending higher every month this year. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting prices to rise 4.9% annually. Read Full Here Cuomo’s unending Covid victory lap undercuts his actions on gun violence (Editorial Board Opinion) Syracuse.com Nevertheless, Cuomo’s never-ending victory lap on Covid leaves a sour taste. More than 43,000 New Yorkers (and perhaps as many as 54,000) dead of Covid is hardly worth bragging about. Neither are the scandals emanating from the governor’s pandemic response, from the hidden toll of nursing home deaths, to preferential testing for family and friends, to a $5 million payday from a Covid leadership memoir. With all that baggage, it’s hard to take Cuomo seriously — and hard not to be cynical — when he compares Covid to anything. That’s a cross the governor will have to bear for the rest of his time in office. Enough with words. Let’s see results. Read Full Here Ready to take back our state? Contribute today!
