Farm Roundtable in Allen County 

As the 10th largest farming state in the country, Indiana relies heavily on agriculture. This year, adverse weather conditions have significantly impacted crop yields. 

As part of my on-going farm visits throughout Indiana, I stopped by Roemke Farms to hear from Allen County farmers about the extreme challenges faced this spring, trade, and other important issues. As we look to harvest, I’m fighting to ensure Hoosiers in farm country – like Mark Roemke – receive the right tools from the federal government. 

Hoosier Ag Today covered my visit and highlighted the need to provide certainty for this critical Indiana industry.

West Lake Corridor Project Advancement 

Last week, it was announced that the West Lake Corridor project has passed through critical approvals and is now one step closer to construction. This would be Indiana’s first new commuter rail link to Chicago in over 100 years and it will bring positive economic growth and job creation to Northwest Indiana. I look forward to working with my colleagues to bring this important Indiana infrastructure project to fruition.

Future of 5G Technology in Indiana

I was honored to have the opportunity to speak at CTIA’s 5G Futures Event in Indianapolis. The deployment of 5G and 5G-friendly policies provides the prospect of immense economic, social, and consumer benefits for communities across the country. In Indiana alone, this technology is expected to attract more than $700 million in wireless network investment and bring 8,000 Hoosier jobs to Indianapolis. I will continue to work to make sure that Indiana maintains a leading role in 5G technology.  

$436 Million Loan for Indiana’s Water Infrastructure 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that they will be giving Indiana a WIFIA loan to help strengthen dozens of Hoosier water infrastructure systems. This announcement is welcome news for Indiana and is a testament to the record of success our state has demonstrated by efficiently delivering water infrastructure projects.
