John— Have you seen the headlines about the Texas abortion ban? They’re pretty grim:
1 2 3 4
Abortion is still legal in Texas, but if we don’t fight like hell to keep it that way, we could be living in the future that anti-choice extremists want: A future where abortion is banned before many people even know they’re pregnant. A future where anyone — from a controlling ex-boyfriend or nosy neighbor to a complete stranger — is empowered and even incentivized by the Texas government to act as vigilantes enforcing abortion bans.
We need our representatives in Congress to step up and put an end to extreme abortion bans, including this one. Otherwise, it’s not just going to happen in Texas; Republican-controlled state legislatures across the country may attempt to copy this law — and maybe go even further. And if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, these bans will be devastating.
We need to act quickly, John. Tell your representative to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and stop extreme bans on abortion across the country.
Thanks for being in this fight with us,
