Last week, Texas Democrats walked out of the State Legislature to put a halt to Greg Abbott’s attacks on our right to vote.
Some contracted COVID-19, many missed important family obligations, and all risked arrest in order to stand up for what’s right.
These brave Democrats flew to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. to urge federal action on nationwide vote protection legislation. But Congress is still sitting on its hands, too afraid to stand up to Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to protect voting rights.
Our leaders in Congress should be fighting for us, not for an illusion of bipartisanship with feckless Republicans who will stop at nothing to deny regular Americans the right to vote.
We’re proud that Texas Democrats are leading the way on voting rights. But it should never have come to this. Members of Congress should be fighting tooth and nail to protect our right to vote.
