John,
On Saturday, I joined the MicroLife Institute for a ribbon-cutting at the Cottages on Vaughan - the first micro-cottage community in Georgia!

I remember when I first met the MicroLife team back in 2016 at their tiny house festival at Ponce City market. Their ideas about addressing our country's housing crisis through right-sizing our housing and better utilizing space immediately grabbed my attention because Clarkston, where I was serving as Mayor at the time, is a "tiny" 1.4 square mile city.

I couldn't wait to bring Will Johnston and Kim Morrison (the co-founders) out to our community to figure out how, despite our city's limited space, we could create sustainably built, long-lasting, accessible housing.

Now, after years of hard work, the Cottages on Vaughan pilot project is complete! [[link removed]]

This project represents a new way forward in addressing the housing crisis of metro Atlanta. Communities built with intention, not cookie cutters, are what more and more people are looking for.

I’m proud of the work we did while I was Mayor of Clarkston to make this cottage community a reality, and I can’t wait to begin to work on updating DeKalb County’s ordinance to allow for more innovate housing projects like this one.

The lessons learned here can be applied across Georgia, and I hope it will lead to more change. There is nothing like a dream of the future.
