The S in ESG: Best practices and way forward?
In collaboration with Frank Bold [[link removed]]and Shift [[link removed]], we hosted a panel discussion on advancing the adoption and use of relevant indicators for assessing companies’ social impacts and risks.
The event featured experts and industry leaders who examined the importance of prioritising social risks and effective ways for companies and investors to measure, manage and reduce business impacts on people and society. The panellists also highlighted the recently launched white paper: Amplifying the "S" in ESG: Investor Myth Buster [[link removed]], produced by the ESG Working Group [[link removed]].

The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism [[link removed]] has launched its 2021 Digital News Report [[link removed]]. This year's study into digital news consumption around the world is based on a survey of more than 92,000 online news consumers in 46 markets, including – for the first time – India, Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, Colombia and Peru. It also examines changes to news consumption in the wake of the pandemic, spotlighting successful, innovative online business models, alongside issues including trust and misinformation.

COVID-19 Response Measures Affecting Media Freedom [[link removed]]
Many of the emergency measures enacted in Latin America in response to COVID-19 restricted media freedom and could have negative long-term implications for free expression, according to a new report released by Committee to Protect Journalists [[link removed]] in partnership with TrustLaw [[link removed]], the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono service, with support from law firms across the region.

Top fashion brands found failing on gender equality in new index [[link removed]]
The World Benchmarking Alliance [[link removed]] launched its 2021 Gender Benchmark [[link removed]], ranking the largest 35 fashion retailers on their contribution towards gender equality. The index caused concern amongst campaigners as companies average a score of 29 out of 100.
