TONIGHT: Democratic presidential candidates will speak on critical issues that matter most to voters. Let's make sure that abortion access is one of them! Demand CNN, the New York Times, and debate moderators Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Marc Lacey #AskAboutAbortion during tonight's debate.
John,
Reproductive rights are under siege like never before in this country. But, you wouldn’t know that by watching the last two presidential debates where not a SINGLE question was asked about abortion.
The reality is that abortion rights will be a key issue for voters in the 2020 election, and we can’t afford to let moderators ignore the topic any longer.
We’re calling on CNN, the New York Times, and debate moderators Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Marc Lacey to #AskAboutAbortion during the next week’s presidential debate. Add your name now!
This next presidential debate will be held in Ohio — a state where anti-choice lawmakers have made attacking abortion access their personal business, passing a bill that would outlaw all abortion before many women even know they are pregnant.1
It’s right on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision to take on its first major abortion case since Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court — June Medical Services v. Gee.2 With Kavanaugh sitting on the bench, we know that our fundamental freedoms, long protected by Roe v. Wade, are in grave danger.
When we elect a pro-choice president in 2020, their platform to safeguard reproductive freedom will shape the future of abortion access in this country. We need a leader with a bold vision to undo the damage of the Trump administration and expand our federal protections for abortion.
Many candidates have already released plans to uphold our fundamental rights and address the crisis of abortion access in this country, and they’re sharing those plans on the campaign trail. But voters deserve to hear about those plans from the debate stage.
Demand CNN, the New York Times, and debate moderators Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Marc Lacey #AskAboutAbortion on October 15th.
Thank you for all you do for reproductive freedom,
Ilyse Hogue President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
