Centrist and Bronx Democratic Councilman Fernando Cabrera has filed to challenge AOC in the 2020 primary.
Cabera is running a pro-corporate campaign built on dated tropes about Medicare for All and other popular progressive platforms. He’s unabashedly throwing out Fox News talking points by inaccurately comparing modern Democratic Socialism to the governments of Venezuela and Cuba.
We’ve heard these tropes before, but they don’t scare candidates like AOC because she knows we are fighting for policies the majority of Americans support.
Unlike so many corporate-backed candidates, AOC ran a clean campaign in 2018. She’s kept her word by pushing against big pharma, promoting Medicare for All and introducing the Green New Deal resolution. We need to make sure she wins in 2020 and that she has an army of BNC representatives taking the oath of office with her.
It’s clear: the political powers-that-be will throw everything at BNC candidates to make sure they don’t make it to the Congressional floor.
Why? Because Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have shown they are putting people before party and aren’t afraid to challenge the corporate machine!
We are pushing for policies the people want and we know AOC can win again.
