Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez

John,

My name is Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez, and I'm a proud Hispanic
woman running for Congress in Texas' 15th congressional district.
I'm a small business owner, a mother, a minority, and a proud
Republican. Last year, I came within 6,000 votes of being elected
the first Hispanic Republican elected to the U.S. House from
South Texas.

I believe in the value of hard work. I believe in funding our
border patrol and our police. I believe that the United States of
America while imperfect, is still the envy of the world.

So, when I read a tweet by Democrat congresswoman Cori Bush from
Missouri on the 4th of July, I wondered aloud how anyone could
possibly believe what this woman had to say. See her tweet below.

I say this to Rep. Bush. I live on the border. I was raised on
the border. In my lifetime, I've seen hundreds of thousands -
maybe even millions of immigrants - attempt to gain entry to the
United States. Why? Because the United States is still the best
hope for the world's destitute and those who want to live in a
nation that is consistently striving to be a better version of
its collective self.
If you agree with me that we need more Republicans of minority
descent in the House to help paint a narrative that celebrates
America, rather than tear it down like Miss Bush's, would you
consider a gift to my campaign today of $50, $25 or even just $5?

As a child of a single mother, I'm here to tell you that the
American dream is alive and well, John. I can't speak to the
motives behind this woman's tweet but I can tell you this: words
have consequences, and our adversaries are constantly on the
lookout for ammunition to use against us, to weaken our
democracy.

If I'm fortunate enough to be elected to Congress, you can bet
your bottom dollar that I won't let words like Rep. Bush's go
unchecked. I'd march right down to the House floor and call her
out for this crass lie that she's pushing that America isn't
free.

If Rep. Bush wants to make a visit to the border so she can see
just how many people are eager to get into the country, and to
learn why - then here is her invitation. I'm happy to translate
for her. I think the response may surprise her.

I'll leave off here, and I sincerely hope Rep. Bush sees this.
Thank you, dear Lord, for allowing me to live in this great
country we call the USA, where no matter your background, race,
or religion, you can do or be anything you dream. It may not be
easy and sometimes, and it won't be fair, but in this great
nation and with God - anything is possible.

We need members of Congress who still believe in and embody the
American Dream. If you agree with that statement, I hope you'll
consider a gift to my campaign right now.
