The Hyde Amendment prevents the Indian Health Service (IHS) from using federal funds to cover abortion, creating one of the worst racial disparities in abortion access in the nation — and fundamentally denying Native women bodily autonomy, perpetuating a cycle of generational state violence against Native women’s reproductive freedom.^1,2
