The 2021 legislative session in Austin has just wrapped, and team, today the Governor kicks off the first special session of the year.

Texas’ power grid is groaning under extreme weather events driven by climate change, our vaccination rates are lagging behind the rest of the country, and a tropical storm barreling towards our coast is threatening to make things worse.

We’re facing urgent problems and our Governor is wasting precious time, choosing instead to use the legislative session to focus on restricting our voting rights, a manufactured border crisis, and pulling reproductive rights back into the Stone Age.

It’s unacceptable, team. But there’s hope on the horizon.

The midterms are about to be upon us, and we’re doubling down on our primary mission here at Battleground Texas: Registering voters, and getting them out to vote.

Over the last few years, our organization has added over 200,000 voters to the rolls, a feat that’s even more important in light of this new legislation that limits access to the ballot box.

We can break more records in 2022, but we need your support. Make a donation today and 100% of it will go towards capacity building for voter registration next year:

This work has never been more urgent. Republican representatives wasted an entire legislative session earlier this year, but Governor Abbott doesn’t think they went far enough.

He’s called for a special session to prioritize border wall funding, more anti-trans legislation, and voter suppression. This is dangerous and threatens our democracy.

His office is already working to change parliamentary procedures to push this legislation through, and we need to mobilize, fast.

But we need the resources to do it. We cannot make Texas a true battleground state without support from people like you, so please make a donation today:
