Friend,
Too often, big corporations think they can act with impunity in
politics. Donate to whoever advances their agenda. And they assume
nothing will ever happen. Sound familiar?
Until just a few minutes ago, that was Toyota. They thought they
could get away with donations to the seditionist members of Congress
who voted to overturn the will of the people after January 6th.
Then we all stepped up. The Lincoln Project took action.
We launched a powerful campaign - from grassroots supporters like
you demanding Toyota stand up for democracy to building a coalition of
customers, employees, and leaders holding Toyota accountable.
The pressure didn’t stop there. We released a powerful ad just this
morning targeting Toyota HQ and their employees. (If
you haven’t seen it, it’s worth watching.)
And the result?
We struck a blow for democracy today. Toyota just announced
they will no longer fund the seditionists in Congress. Democracy
prevailed - because of your commitment, and we’re just getting
started.
This is your victory, Friend. We’ve shown the country the way to
win this fight against authoritarianism.
If we stand united, we can defeat the authoritarian movement and
everyone who supports them; even the biggest names in Corporate
America. Ask Toyota how effective it was.
We’ve won this round, but there are more fights right in front of
us. There are more corporations, financiers and seditionists we need
to hold accountable. And more elections to win.
We
know the blueprint now. We’re not stopping here. Pitch in now so we’re
ready for the next fight.
Onward, -Reed
