As the House voted to establish an investigation into the January 6th insurrection, Madison Cawthorn was absent.

He was at the Southern border with Trump and a rioter.

Intention is revealed through the choices we make, and Madison Cawthorn literally chose Donald Trump and a rioter over the January 6 committee. He’s not in DC to represent the people of Western NC, he’s there to advance an extremist agenda and his own fame.

Ahead of the vote, Cawthorn claimed he was “unable to physically attend proceedings in the House Chamber due to the ongoing public health emergency.”

Then he flew to the border to appear with Trump, other far-right members of Congress, and a man who live-streamed himself breaking into the Capitol.

This isn’t just disgraceful, it’s dangerous. Cawthorn helped incite the insurrection, giving a speech just hours before rioters breached the Capitol, injuring at least 140 police officers and causing $30 million in damages. Even after the destruction, he’s still shamelessly committed to Trump’s Big Lie.

It’s critical that we shine a bright spotlight on the ways he is betraying our district.
