Last week, in a decision called Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee, the Supreme Court further dismantled the Voting Rights Act by upholding a ruling allowing Republican state officials to legislate voter suppression.

I’ve been clear about my intention to abolish the filibuster, pass the Judiciary Act, and expand the Supreme Court. This is a 6-3 conservative majority that is hostile to democracy itself.

In the meantime, I’ve introduced the Inclusive Elections Act of 2021 to counter the Supreme Court’s disastrous Brnovich v. DNC ruling.

My bill will require any court ruling on a voting rights case to consider whether a measure makes it disproportionately difficult for individuals protected under the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to participate in the democratic process. If you’d like to see this measure passed, I’m asking for you to join me.

Add your name to support the Inclusive Elections Act of 2021, which will protect historically disenfranchised groups from unfair rulings in voter suppression cases.

This bill won’t undo all of the wrongs done by Republican officials who have spent the last several decades trying to disenfranchise people of color, young people, working people, formerly incarcerated individuals, and other groups that have been historically left out of the democratic process.

But it’s an important step in the fight against voter suppression when paired with our work to end the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.
