Dear John,
Today, we join together in celebration of America: land of the free, home of the brave!
The Fourth of July commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence that was signed on this day in 1776.
It was the greatest experiment known to mankind--the establishment of a free nation. We became--in the later words of our great President Abraham Lincoln --a nation of the people, for the people, and by the people.
It's been 244 years since America established our independence and we continue to serve as the beacon of hope, democracy and freedom for people across the globe.
We have been tested as a nation many times throughout our history, but today we are living in a time where there are those from within our nation who are working to erode our freedoms and dismantle our historic American institutions. As unwavering patriots, Republicans from every corner of the state and across the nation must join together in rejection of this dangerous socialist ideology.
We must also remember that there is much more that unites us than divides us. We must work to remind our fellow citizens of what our beautiful American flag represents and the exceptional promises of freedom and opportunity that are found only on American soil. We must continue to show our eternal gratitude for the brave souls who sacrifice their lives to protect us and the freedoms we hold so dear.
From all of us at the NYGOP, we hope you have a happy and healthy Fourth of July. Happy Birthday, America! May God continue to bless this great nation.
Sincerely,
