We fought extremely hard - right up to the moment the polls closed tonight. But ultimately, we came up just short of the 50% of the vote needed to win outright. From here, we move to a run-off election that will take place on Nov. 16.

I have as much confidence as ever that we'll win a month from now. This team - supporters like you - have stepped up in big ways ever since this reelection campaign started. But that doesn't mean we can take our foot off the gas. In fact, it's the exact opposite. Let me tell you why.

Now that I have just one opponent, all the out-of-state special interests and national Republican money will line-up behind him. And they will spend massive amounts of money - on attack ads, on voter outreach ... everything. We must be able to match their resources every single day.

We've come this far, and there's no backing down now. Not with all the progress we've made for Louisiana on the line. To win this thing fair and square on Nov. 16, we've set a new goal to raise $25,000 by midnight tomorrow. I'm counting on you to pitch in, so please rush $5 or more to win the runoff election and keep Louisiana moving forward!
